Health - A healthy food system is one that promotes the physical, social, mental and emotional health of all community members.

Food Security – Everyone has full access to nutritious, affordable, and culturally appropriate foods.

Environment - A sustainable food system produces, processes, and distributes food in ways that support and enhance, rather than degrade , ecological systems.

Policy/Built Environment - Public policies that support and invest in the development of a strong food system, rather than create obstacles or challenges.

Economy - Thriving communities are supported by food systems with ample economic opportunities and systems in place to support new and existing food businesses and their customers.

Farms/Gardens/Fisheries - The density and number of gardens/farms/fisheries that make up the food system - including the health of the farm owners and farm laborers that make up those systems.
