The North Carolina Food Action Plan, initiated by Community Food Strategies, will invite nontraditional partners to think about how NC can “do” food differently - from farmers and retailers to consumers and policymakers, and the institutions that serve them. Led by the stories of communities, we will first collaborate to develop big ideas to shift the future of food in NC and then identify food-system-related metrics to track our progress. Our work will create an opportunity to build a collective voice and center equity in the process and intended outcomes.
Together, we will:
Develop an action plan of game-changing ideas that will improve the health of our people and places.
Create a report card that reflects our current status and sets inclusive priorities for the future.
This project will focus on many aspects of the food system, and all work will be grounded in equity. More information about these areas can be found here.
