A bold process to inspire us, as North Carolinians, to “do food" differently.
Over the next 2.5 years, we will bring together a diverse group of leaders and experts, to craft a NC Food Action Plan that nourishes ALL of North Carolina - our people, our environment and our communities. This bold process will center our neighbors and communities who have been most affected by food systems inequities like food insecurity, chronic health conditions and diet-related illness, generational loss of farmland and access to markets, all spurred by poverty and other systemic conditions. Those negative impacts affect us all but offers us tremendous opportunity. Through this process we will identify game-changing ideas, and develop a set of metrics to track to hold ourselves accountable to a food system that improves the overall health and well-being of the people and places we love in order to "do food differently".
We want an equitable food system that supports the health and quality of life for all North Carolinians.
We want a sustainable and resilient food system that promotes a healthy environment.
We want a community-driven food system that creates thriving local economies and healthy neighborhoods.
